Here’s All You Need To Know About Voting For The General Elections

“Voting is for older people, not for me.” I heard a friend casually say and it got me thinking. We, as individuals have the chance to choose a government that we actually want—are we really going to be laid back and not going to make our voice known in a critical situation like this? I don’t think so. TBH, as the ‘younger generation’ it might seem cool to not care about things like this, but let me break it to you—your votes can make or break the way our country functions. Our individual votes will determine how our country will function for the coming years and that is an important, important responsibility. 50% of India’s population is below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35—and by 2020, the average age of an Indian will be 29 years. (source: Wikipedia)

As the youth of this nation, we have the most power to build our government to what we want it to be. So for the general elections, you gotta realise that you have a lot of power in your hands. Chances are you know a lot about the way our country’s elections work, but some might not have any clue. What’s about to follow is for the benefit of the latter. Keep scrolling to see.

“Do I really need to vote?”

Yes, yes you do. When you vote you’re basically fulfilling your fundamental duty as a citizen of this country.

Who Am I Voting For Tho?”

You are voting for individuals that will comprise of the Lok Sabha aka House of the People aka the lower house of India’s Parliament. Each representative who wins by direct election becomes a ‘Member of Parliament’ and holds office in the Lok Sabha for the next five years, unless sooner dissolved.

“But, like, What Does The Lok Sabha Do?”

This part of the union legislature is directly responsible for the way our country (you and I) function. Think, money bills, exercising day-to-day scrutiny over the activities of the Government, amending provisions of the Constitution, and also the election of our President amongst other things.

Pretty damn important, right?

“So what makes me eligible to choose who gets to be in the Lok Sabha?”

  • Being a citizen of India
  • Being at least 18 years old.
  • Residing in the polling area of the constituency where you can vote.

“But what if I don’t live there anymore?”

You might be studying or working in a place which isn’t the same address as your voter’s ID but that doesn’t mean you aren’t eligible to vote anymore. Here’s how you can still cast your vote in a different constituency:

You can register yourself for a new constituency by filling Form 6. You can find this on the NVSP website here. For this, you will need to submit proof of your new address along with the form. If you don’t want to opt for the online route, you can submit this same form to the Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of your new residence. (Source: https://eci.gov.in/faqs/)

But before you head out and vote in phase 1 of the Lok Sabha elections you gotta check and see if your name appears in the voter’s list. If your name appears in it, you are eligible to vote but if not, you will not be able to exercise your vote.

Have a look at the trailer here:

Apart from the trio, Aditya Seal was a very nice surprise in the trailer! He caught everyone’s attention as the bad boy who is set to challenge the hero – Tiger. In the trailer, we see a one-on-one fight sequence with Tiger which was super impactful and gave us an idea of the kind of action we can expect in the film. From his power-packed action sequences to his good looks, he really did leave the audiences wanting to see more of him!

So, we saved you the trouble there. We took a tour of his Instagram profile and he certainly is one handsome hunk!

Aditya is giving Tiger competition when it comes to the action sequences, yes. But he is not also far behind when it comes to dance (which is an important element in the film). And these videos of him shaking legs with none other than Will Smith is what got people noticing this good-looking actor!

Here are a few videos:

He also seems to be well known in the industry as he is seen socialising with actors of the likes of Alia Bhatt.

Have a look:

Aditya was first seen opposite Manisha Koirala in the film Ek Chhotisi Love Story. He also starred in Tum Bin 2 and Namaste England.

We cannot wait to see him give Tiger some tough competition in Student Of The Year 2 and wish him all the luck!

Here’s Why Kangana Ranaut Feels Embarrassed To Be Compared To Alia Bhatt

Kangana Ranaut is one actress that does not hold back in any way. The actress who is highly appreciated for her acting is known even more for her controversial statements. Right after the release of her superhit Manikarnika, she has been miffed that Bollywood did not come out in support of her film. Earlier this month she talked about how she found it was funny that actors would like to discuss their sex life in public but not talk about issues that affect their country. Kangana specifically lashed out at Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt then. She further added how she couldn’t understand why Ranbir was called a young actor when he was 37 and at that age, her dad was a middle-aged man. She seems to be specifically miffed with Alia and yet again lashed out at the actor calling her Gully Boy performance mediocre. Talking to Bollywood life about being compared to Alia Bhatt she said she was embarrassed that her performance in Manikarnika was compared to Alia’s character in Gully Boy.

She said,

I am embarrassed…What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ….same snappy muh phat girl… Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media have taken filmy kids love too far. Stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised.

Ouch! Those are some really strong words coming from the actress. Kangana seems to have taken it to heart that Alia hadn’t come out in support for her film. It seems like she didn’t really take Alia’s apology well either, in fact, back then, she had asked her to grow a spine.

This seems to be getting way out of hand. We hope Kangana can sort out the issues with Alia soon.

Anushka Sharma’s Outfit Looks Basic Until You Take Note Of Her Shirt

A crisp white shirt is a humble part of anyone’s regular wardrobe. Ask any style specialist and they’ll tell you how it is one of the must-haves of everyone’s closet. Of course, designers are making sure it isn’t pegged as ‘a just for a formal meeting’ shirt. It has now obtained a stylish status quo, and we can’t deny that we love it more with its fashionable twist! Currently, we’re drooling over Anushka Sharma‘s shirt and wouldn’t mind it being part of our wardrobe.

Anushka Sharma

For a casual outing, Anushka chose this classic combo of a white shirt and blue jeans. Of course, when it comes to Anushka, nothing is basic, all thanks to celebrity stylist Allia Al Rufai and her team. Anushka had on a white Chinese collar shirt designed by Namrata Joshipura. The shirt is known as the ‘Let Go’ shirt as these words are actually embellished on the back of the shirt. So, at first glance, you don’t really realise that it’s a slogan shirt. Even the sleeves had a stylish layered detail. The shirt was just not your ordinary one and ensured that we definitely take note of it.

She teamed the shirt with a pair of bell-bottoms from Tommy Hilfiger to complete the look. Her accessories too might look basic but her shoes were from Gucci and her wallet was from Louis Vuitton. The circular black sunglasses gave the right level of easy-chic to the whole outfit.

What do you think of this look? Will you wear Anushka’s this look for a casual outing? Let us know in the comments below.

What? Vivek Oberoi Was To Originally Play Munna Bhai?

We can all agree that Rajkumar Hirani‘s Munna Bhai with Sanjay Dutt is a National Award winning classic that can never be replaced or recreated to its best effect. So this piece of information we received today about the film blew our minds! Vivek Oberoi, in a recent interview, shared that he was supposed to essay the iconic role of the Mumbai don Munna Bhai. Can you believe it?

In an interview with Huffpost India, Vivek shared that he was first offered the part in the film but he couldn’t do the movie due to date issues.

Here is an excerpt from his interview:

I wanted to do Munnabhai, I said yes to it, but destiny had it that it was supposed to be a Sanjay Dutt film. I couldn’t adjust my dates

Well, that is unfortunate. But the movie certainly turned out to be a turning point in Sanjay’s career and one of his best performances ever!

On the work front, Vivek’s film PM Narendra Modi is currently under a lot of controversy and as per reports, the release of the film has been stalled. Sanjay Dutt on the other hand, is all set to star in the period drama – Kalank – slated to release on the 17th of April. As for Rajkumar Hirani and the Munna Bhai franchise, the director has confirmed that there will be a third film.

We can’t wait to watch Sanjay and Mr.Hirani weave magic on screen once again! What about you guys? Tell us in the comments below.

“I Am Surviving On Mediocre Talent And Luck” – Salman Khan On Being The Most Celebrated Of The 3 Khans

The three famous Khans of Bollywood – Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan – have their individual massive fan following, which more often than not, exceeds reason. They have been a part of the film industry since the 90s and their popularity hasn’t diminished despite the entry of the younger generation. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the three are often pitted against each other.

In a recent interview with DNA AfterHrs, Sallu was asked about being the most celebrated of the 3 Khans. He said:

SRK is a legend, as is Aamir. A bad movie here or there may happen, but they will always come back. Actually, tension toh mera hai. Aamir and SRK know their craft. I’ve heard people saying they’re not so sure about me. My thing is that I’m surviving on mediocre talent and luck. Actually, I don’t know what I’m surviving on, but I’m surviving. Mere ups and downs toh hote rahenge. By the grace of God, hamari fan following itni tagdi hai.

He also said that both Aamir and SRK are legends who will bounce back despite a few bad films here and there. Well, that’s quite modest of Sallu bhai. The actor will be seen next in Bharat opposite Katrina Kaif. He is also doing Dabangg 3 with Sonakshi Sinha and Kick 2 with Jacqueline Fernandez.
